Our History

They say all genius ideas start on the back of a napkin, our story is no different. In 1995 an imaginative and committed group of human resource and operating executives from five leading restaurant chains agreed to share; and more importantly, to benchmark the key human resource statistics and workforce metrics that are critical to success and profitability.

In response, Joni Thomas Doolin, a small team of analysts and human resource executives designed and launched the survey that became the foundation for People Report. Today our membership includes hundreds of brands and represents millions of employees. Recognized by the industry as a savvy and trusted research partner, People Report has evolved throughout a period of increasingly competitive business cycles to provide the information, insight and best practices that members need to grow and thrive.


Sheryl Coyne-Batson

Senior Director of Business Development

Sheryl Coyne-Batson has more than 15 years of restaurant industry experience, and over 8 years of management and operations experience with Brinker International, Starbucks Coffee Company, Blue Goose Cantina & Chuy’s Comida Deluxe. Sheryl has been with TDn2K since 2014. In this role, she develops new members and lines of business for TDn2K.

Debbie Cobb

Accounting Manager

Debbie joined TDn2K’s Accounting team in 2015 after 20 plus years in corporate accounting management positions in the telecommunications, banking and service industries. She handles financial analysis and reporting, as well as general accounting services.

Debbie holds a M.B.A. degree from The University of Tennessee and a B.S. degree in Business Management from Tennessee Technological University. She is also a licensed CPA in Texas.

Liz da Silva

Front-End Developer & Designer

Liz joined TDn2K in August of 2016 as a front-end developer and here she works to design, update, and maintain TDn2K’s product and conference sites. She is experienced in UX design, front-end development, search engine optimization, and print design. She graduated from Collin College with a degree in communication design in 2015.

David Dietz

Senior Director of Information Technology

David joined TDn2K in July 2016. David manages the software development, system security and product resiliency for TDn2K. He loves working with new technologies and applying his skills with these technologies to help the rest of the organization be successful. He has held various technology roles over his 20+ years of Technology leadership including Director of Software Development, Vice President, Application Development Manager, Senior Java Developer, Solution Architect, Software Developer, Presenter at Users Conferences, Pre-Sales Engineer, Project Manager, Scrum Master, Application Security Champion, Onsite Troubleshooter, Installer, Trainer of customers, sales people, trainers, installers and executives.

David has a Masters of Sciences in Computer Sciences from University of North Texas (Algorithm-focus), a Texas Teaching Certification from University of North Texas (Physics/Secondary Education), and a Bachelors of Sciences in Physics with Math Minor from the University of Texas in Austin.

Hometown: Military brat (meaning no true hometown), but have lived in Texas most of my life either in San Antonio, Austin or for the last 24 years in the Dallas area.

Monique Dilonga

Member Services Manager

Monique Dilonga joined the TDn2K family in 2015 as Member Services Manager. She is responsible for maintaining all communications with new and current members. She is dedicated to customer service and providing all members with the support they need. She also manages the on boarding process and ongoing training efforts to make sure members have a working knowledge of People Report, Black Box Intelligence and White Box Intelligence. Monique assists members with understanding their data to best utilize it.

Monique was born and raised in Texas and received her Bachelor's degree in International Development with a minor in Spanish from the University of North Texas.

Wally Doolin

Chairman & Founder

Wallace Blair Doolin is a widely recognized and respected leader within the global hospitality industry. Doolin’s unique experience working with multiple concepts on a global basis in a range of circumstances from turn around, start up, high growth, public ownership and private ownership, as well as his commitment to the foodservice industry has established him as a trusted, competent and effective leader.

Doolin is chairman of TDn2K, the holding company of People Report, the leader in human capital business intelligence for the restaurant industry, Black Box Intelligence and White Box Social Intelligence. He is the founder of Black Box Intelligence, a state of the art business intelligence product for the restaurant industry. Additionally, he serves as a trustee of the National Restaurant Association and is a past chairman of the National Restaurant Association's Education Foundation. Other current responsibilities include serving as a board director for SplickIt a mobile technology company, Phasenext Hospitality a non traditional operator/franchisee and Share Our Strength a leading non profit, where he is the lead director. Previously, Doolin served as President of Applebee's, CEO and President of Carlson Restaurants Worldwide, TGI Fridays, Buca, Inc and La Madeleine. Additionally, Doolin has served on the public boards of Buca, Inc., Famous Dave's and Caribou Coffee.

Best Life Accomplishments So Far: Married and in love with my best friend and partner in business and life. The father of 4 wonderful children, grandfather to 10 lovely grandchildren and godfather to 2 beautiful girls. A passionate service leader for Share Our Strength, endowed a scholarship (with my wife) for women + minorities through the NRAEF. Served our country as a captain in the Army. Victor Fernandez

Executive Director of Insights and Knowledge

Victor Fernandez, Executive Director of Insights and Knowledge for TDn2K, is the company's most senior Analyst and Compensation Specialist. He is responsible for creating, developing and delivering products to service sector companies that provide the human capital and financial business intelligence they need to successfully run their businesses in an increasingly competitive landscape. Victor oversees the company's Total Rewards practice as well as its overall product development.

Victor holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He also has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Rafael Landivar University in Guatemala City, Guatemala, his home town.

Prior to joining TDn2K, Victor worked as a Research Analyst for a consulting firm in Guatemala and along with his wife Antonella, started their own business catering to dog owners. Victor currently lives in Frisco, Texas with his wife and two sons, Diego and Mateo. He enjoys spending time with his family, everything that comes along with the adventure of being a dad, playing music with friends and spending time outdoors.

Michael Harms

Executive Director of Operations and Compliance

A member of the TDn2K team since 2005, Michael is responsible for product and systems development, as well as overseeing the data analysis process that serves as the foundation for both the Black Box Intelligence and People Report.

Michael's insights can frequently be found in various publications, including a co-authored chapter of Dr. Jac Fitz-enz’s latest book, "The New HR Analytics: Predicting the Economic Value of Your Company's Human Capital Investments."

Michael remains the undisputed TDn2K cookie-eating champion and proudly wears the label "Unofficial Office Music Critic".

Sarah Higgins

Senior Director of Marketing & Communications

Sarah joined the TDn2K team in 2012. A veteran of the restaurant industry, Sarah brings over 17 years of experience in foodservice, marketing, public relations, advertising, community management, digital media and social media. Prior to joining the TDn2K team, Sarah spent 5 years with FOHBOH, Inc. ("Front of House", "Back of House") a platform that uniquely combines B2B food, tech and media positioned at the intersection of technology and transformation for the foodservice industry.

Sarah earned a BA in Communication and Marketing from Arizona State in 2005. She is an active advocate and Social Council Member for No Kid Hungry, A SIP Board Member, a passionate San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, ASU Sundevil & 49ers fan, and wine enthusiast.

Jennifer Hubert is responsible for the collection and analysis of data for member companies. With the help of her team, she ensures that member companies receive their products on time and are able to interpret trends and benchmarks that will aid them in making the right decisions for their business.

Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Texas at Dallas. She is a creative and analytical thinker who loves solving problems and helping make the world a better place. Grace graduated from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio with a B.A. in Communication and Spanish. She is a Dallas transplant and enjoys exploring new restaurants, breweries and any outdoor activity.

Melissa Doolin-Koehne

Melissa has been part of the TDn2K team since 2003 and currently leads business development identifying and helping our newest members. Prior to joining us, Melissa worked for the National Restaurant Association in sales and communications.

Melissa followed her passion to have a career in the restaurant industry and has a Bachelor's degree from Johnson & Wales University. She is involved in her community and likes to support organizations such as No Kid Hungry, Operation Kindness and sits on the board of the school’s PTA.

Andrew Mickael

Associate Business Analyst

Andrew joined TDn2K in August of 2017. He graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a B.S. in Finance. Andrew loves working with and finding new ways to interact with data, as well as deriving insights from his analysis. He also enjoys learning new programming languages and applying his knowledge to improve and automate his work.

Gina has over 13 years experience as an Executive Assistant. Having held positions in the manufacturing, music, restaurant and IT fields, Gina is able to tailor her skills to meet the needs of her individual executive. She has enjoyed working side by side and gleaning a wealth of knowledge from some of the most innovative, inspiring leaders in their fields.

Gina received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities with an emphasis in print journalism and English literature from the University of West Florida.

Allyanna Pascone

Business Analyst

Allyanna Pascone joined the TDn2K team in 2013 after completing her Bachelor's degree in Economics. She uses her time focusing on collecting and analyzing data from our member companies while enforcing data integrity by resolving data errors or inconsistencies. She works hard to maintain great relationships with all current and new members by providing any additional services requested.

Allyanna uses her analytical skills and organizational capabilities throughout all aspects of her life. She currently holds down the fort at the "Austin office" at her home in Austin, Texas. She enjoys spending her evenings cooking scrumptious meals and playing with her dog Abby.

Bob Rycroft

Managing Director

Bob originally joined TDn2K as a consultant partner, helping organizations assess performance and identify ways to leverage their human resources and sales data. He soon became involved in other aspects of the business and in 2015 took on the role of Managing Director. He works closely with the team to make sure our products and services continue to deliver best-in-class solutions for our members.

Bob grew up in Chicago and received a BS in Marketing from the University of Illinois – Chicago and an MBA from Northwestern. He’s a restaurant industry veteran with more than 25 years of casual dining experience. He’s held key positions in HR, Finance, Development, Marketing and Operations (eternally grateful his bosses accommodated his short attention span). As a long-time user of the People Report and Black Box products, he has a unique understanding of how companies can use data to gain strategic insights.

Zach Stanford

Associate Business Analyst

Zach joined TDn2K in March of 2016. He graduated from BYU with a B.S. and an M.S. in Accounting and Information Systems. Zach loves driving insights from data and is excited to be working with a team that gets a similar thrill from data analysis. With a strong interest in coding, Zach takes any chance he can get to learn new programming languages and he is always looking for ways to automate his work to allow more time for big picture analysis and innovation.

Originally from Utah, Zach and his wife enjoy exploring the Dallas area. Zach is an avid reader and collector of books. He also enjoys investing in the stock market, playing basketball, discovering new music, writing, hiking, and snowboarding.

Nancy Thomas

Controller, Director of Operation Services

Nancy is responsible for the accounting operations of TDn2K. This includes accounts payable & receivables, production of financial reports, maintaining all of accounting records and internal controls. She is also responsible for payroll & benefit administration and office management.

Nancy began her progressive career with American Service Management Resources, Inc. (ASMR) in 1987. Throughout her career with ASMR she held the positions of Hospitality Recruiter as well as Assistant Controller. As a Hospitality Recruiter, Nancy specialized in placement of full service operations management, restaurant accounting and administrative positions. Many clients continue to recognize her commitment to the service industry.

Prior to her impressive tenure with ASMR and TDn2K, Nancy spent seven years in the banking and financial service industry in operations and customer service. Nancy obtained her degree in Business Management from Duff's Business Institute of Pittsburgh, PA.

Kevin Wheeler

Chief Financial Officer
Kevin joined the TDn2K team in 2016 as the Chief Financial Officer. He has over fifteen years of progressive financial and cost accounting management experience in areas including costing systems, budgeting, strategic planning, acquisitions and internal controls.

Kathleen Buehler

Executive Director, Social Strategy1

Kathleen Buehler is an Executive Director for Social Strategy1, and project lead for TDn2K's White Box Social Intelligence, a social media analytics tool created by Social Strategy1 and TDn2K.

She is passionate about helping White Box member restaurants find value across Marketing, Operations, HR, Consumer Insights and Finance by combining social and operational data. Previously she worked in marketing across several categories including sports sponsorship and Olympic marketing, CPG brand management, and professional services marketing. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Marketing from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. Upon graduation, she received the Wesley C. Bender Award presented annually to the student with the highest GPA in Marketing coursework.

She also provides clients with customer care and data analytics and insights, while contributing to the development strategy, sales and marketing of White Box.

Joel Naroff

TDn2K's retained economist, Joel L. Naroff is the President and founder of Naroff Economic Advisors, a strategic economic consulting firm. He advises companies from a wide range of industries on the risks and opportunities that economic developments may have on the organization’s operating environment.

Joel is the author, with veteran reporter Ron Scherer, of “Big Picture Economics: How to Navigate the New Global Economy,” published in April 2014. The book, written for everyone, provides a roadmap for decoding the mysteries of a tumultuous economy. It helps people put the pieces together and form frameworks for future decision making.

Joel works with firms across the country. He is an economic advisor to the New Jersey Business and Industry Association, TDn2K, Metro Bank, Beneficial Bank, Emerald Asset Management, ATON Financial Management, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Realtors, Trefoil Properties and Spectrum Alliance.
